Maybe try a different USB drive containing my library files? Maybe move the library to the local drive (though I don't have enough iMac drive space). ![]() I'm running out of ideas on how to debug further. I'll paste this 2nd problematic Etrecheck below. It showed nothing obvious given the trouble. I ran an Etrecheck in both Safe Mode (maybe not useful?) and in my usual problematic login (regular user account). Same: no crashes when in either Safe Mode or when logging in to a different/barren user account. I have not gotten it to crash like this when the drive is unplugged. Maybe the external drive is dying (I tried a Disk Util on it and the local drive, nada). This seems somehow related to my external USB drive and maybe Apple Music for Mac OS. I’ve tried plugging in my keyboard via USB cable to see if I regain control, but no go. I get the standard error pop up recommending ejecting the drive before powering it off, then my iMac is dead - I have to hold down the rear power button to shut down. My Apple Bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse loose connection, all at the same time my external USB drive self-ejects.
